Overview

Dating from 1170, Lismore Castle is a privately owned castle offering luxury accommodation on an exclusive hire basis. It is ideal for unforgettable family holidays or a special gathering of friends. The layout of the castle, which dates from the 1200s and was built  by King John,  means it can feel intimate with 8-12 guests yet spacious with up to 27 and there is room for many more in the Banqueting Hall for spectacular events.   

Location

Lismore Castle is the Irish home of the Duke of Devonshire. Located in the town of Lismore in County Waterford in Ireland, it belonged to the Earls of Desmond, and subsequently to the Dukes of Devonshire from 1753. It was largely rebuilt in the Gothic style during the mid-nineteenth century by William Cavendish, 6th Duke of Devonshire. Devonshire Castle is also just over an hour’s drive from Cork.

Accommodation

Lismore Castle consists of 15 bedrooms and 13 bathrooms. The ground floor has a hall, drawing room, two sitting rooms, a dining room, an impressive Banqueting Hall for large receptions and a library. In addition there are two bedrooms (one twin, one single), all with private bathrooms.
