Clare Cliff House stands guard at the entrance to Clew Bay, off Ireland’s western Atlantic coast. For almost two centuries, the island’s Lighthouse has been a nautical landmark perched high on the craggy cliffs, watching over Achill, Westport and beyond. Once a safe haven for sailors, this heritage property now offers sanctuary of a different kind. This architecturally majestic, listed building has been lovingly transformed into boutique self catering accommodation, complemented by magnificent sea views and an inspiring, natural environment. Also offers Bed & Breakfast.

Accommodation
The heart of the Lighthouse is the original Lighthouse Keeper’s home, where the Kitchen, Drawing Room and Dining Room/Library are located. This communal space is where guests congregate to dine and socialise, as the lighthouse keepers would have when the Lighthouse was a working building.
The Drawing Room, a comfortable room with a welcoming fire, is a place to read, relax, chat, play board games or simply sit quietly doing not very much!
Each of the six guest rooms is individually designed and decorated. Rooms are furnished with period fixtures and fittings, original artwork and super-comfortable, old-style cast-iron beds. Wood burning stoves & open fires and under floor heating add cosiness and comfort.
All rooms have generous ensuite bathrooms.
Room facilities include: Wi-Fi and hair dryers.
Clare Cliff House accommodation is a non-smoking property including all guest bedrooms, but smoking is permitted outside.
The nature of the building and its cliff top location requires special care and attention when the guest’s party includes children.

Location
Situated in Clew Bay between Galway and Mayo, Clare Island can only be reached by Ferry. There are many activities available on the island, from high-adrenaline adventure to simple appreciation of nature, and crafts, cookery, yoga, retreats and working with horses.
