Property overview

A family owned 400-acre estate with historic stately home, with a mile-long avenue ideal for total privacy. If you have a yearning for sweeping landscapes, a house brimming with antiques and family heirlooms and positioned in total peace overlooking its own private lake. Appeals to those keen to gain access to country pursuits from horse-riding, fishing, fly to coarse, complimentary golf on the adjoining 18 hole course to the estate, heritage woodland walks, clay pigeon shooting, quad biking, kayaking, or in pursuit of an idyllic family holiday, great for letting kids roam free (with staff on hand to look after the finer details so you don’t have to).

Accommodation

Known locally as the Castle, guests experience the exclusive nature of staying in a historic luxury country house and stately home. In such a peaceful and idyllic setting, the house is a sanctuary of laid back luxury where guests will sleep well, eat well and leave with a feeling of wellbeing. All eight bedrooms are all individually decorated each with an en-suite bathroom, antique baths and stunning views of the estate and County Monaghan countryside. The principal bedrooms have four poster beds, vast eight-foot-long windows overlooking the lake and parkland.

Location

County Monaghan is one of the five counties that is in the Republic of Ireland and borders Northern Ireland, this makes it the ideal base to explore both. Monaghan is famed for its ancient Irish craft of lace making, more commonly known as Carrickmacross Lace. There is a museum in Carrickmacross where some fine examples of the craft can be viewed. Monaghan is the birthplace of the famous Irish poet Patrick Kavanagh. Much of Kavanagh’s work was based on his life growing up in the county, in the village of Iniskeen. Some places to see in Monaghan include the Saint Louis Convent Heritage Center and the historic town of Monaghan. Monaghan is dotted with small mountains, lakes and forests, which means there are lots of stunning walking trails, fishing locations and great golfing to be found in County Monaghan.
