Property overview

Nestled in the picturesque village of Cranborne, East Dorset, Wimborne Manor is within easy reach of historic Salisbury and Stonehenge, the Jurassic Coast and the New Forest. This beautiful area of the Cranborne Chase was a favourite of medieval kings as a hunting ground and has links to Thomas Hardy’s classic novel Tess of the D’Urbervilles. Wimborne Manor features 12 luxury bedrooms, a formal restaurant as well as relaxed drawing rooms, several private event spaces, divine bar, large terrace and stunning gardens. We also have an on-site wine shop and soon there will be a spa, currently in planning stages. Head Chef Charlie Farwell creates delicious food, using ingredients sourced as local to Wimborne Manor as possible. Many vegetables are grown in the hotel’s gardens, fish comes from nearby Poole and bread from a wonderful local bakery in Cranborne Village.

Accommodation

Wimborne Manor is a Grade II* listed country house with glorious formal gardens and ancient woodland which has now been remodelled to a high standard of luxury. Wimborne Manor offers a restaurant, a relaxed bar, drawing rooms, 12 individually designed bedrooms and an outside terrace; all situated on the ground floor and open to the general public. Whether it’s for a coffee, to read the paper, enjoy a quick drink, snack, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner or a night away there is something for everyone.

Location

Holiday hot spot Dorset offers a checklist of charms. Its shoreline is one of Britain’s best and boasts the Jurassic Coast – a World Heritage Site flecked with sea-carved bays, crumbly cliffs and beaches loaded with fossilised souvenirs. Swimming, kayaking and hiking here are memorable indeed. Inland, Thomas Hardy's lyrical landscape serves up vast Iron Age hill forts, rude chalk figures, fairy-tale castles and must-see stately homes. Then there are resorts alive with party animals, golden beaches flanked by millionaires' mansions, and sailing waters that have hosted Olympic events. Time then to add Dorset to your holiday list.
