Property overview

Castlelyons Estate is an historic Irish country house of extraordinary warmth, style and comfort that provides luxury accommodation to our guests who are visiting Cork. House is also home to Bertha’s Revenge Gin. A uniquely warm atmosphere pervades the gardens and grounds of Castlelyons, created by the mixture of mature deciduous trees, formal, semi-formal, walled and woodland gardens, not to mention the abundance of indigenous wildlife. Formerly a dairy farm, Castlelyons literally translates from Irish as ‘the place of springing heifers’ and is testament to the fertility, richness and natural diversity of the land on which the estate lies.

Accommodation

The sitting room, dining room and six luxuriously appointed bedrooms have beautiful views overlooking formal gardens, parklands and trout lakes. The bedrooms are uniquely designed and elegantly furnished with the most comfortable beds you’ll ever have the pleasure of sleeping in – luxury manor house accommodation in Ireland has never felt so good!

Location

Cork City is Ireland's second city and has always been an important seaport. It began on an island in the swampy estuary of the River Lee and gradually climbed up the steep banks on either side. Today the river flows through Cork city in two main channels so that you find yourself constantly crossing bridges and hence Cork City's coat of arms bears the motto 'A Safe Harbour for Ships'.
South of Cork city you will find the picturesque seaside town of Kinsale. Its colourful buildings, beautiful location, mild climate and abundance of excellent restaurants, cafes and bars make it a must-visit destination on any trip to the south of the country. The many top-end, quality restaurants in the town means that it is known as the ‘gourmet capital of Ireland’ and it even has its own Gourmet Food Festival. Of course, in order to win over the locals, always order a pint of Murphy’s over Guinness. That’s the quickest way into any Southern Ireland persons heart.
